Step 3: Make good plans

1. It’s time for you to make a plan. Download your GOST model template at this link.
2. Start by entering the stretch goal you created in Step 2. This goal is the first big milestone on the way to your Vision.
3. The rough plan you created of how you will achieve that goal is your strategy. Add it to your GOST model. This is your top-down, high-level plan.
4. Ask your team to describe what they need to do to bring your strategy to life. These day-to-day activities are the tactics. Work with your team to identify the few most important tactics they need to start with. If you brainstorm about tactics, the plan will be better and you’ll get more commitment and excitement.
5. Now that you have your initial tactics, describe with the help of your team how you will know if the tactics are leading to the expected results. These are your milestones or Objectives as they are known in the GOST model.
6. Well done! You’ve created your first GOST model. In Step 4, I will describe how to convert the model into action.
