Step 4: Enlist your team with big requests

  1. Set aside 30 minutes and pick one or two important requests you’ve made of others. For each request, write out how you articulated the five elements of a clear request:
    1. What was requested?
    2. Why is it important?
    3. Who will do it?
    4. By when?
    5. How will the outcome be assessed?
  2. Was anything missing from the requests you made? If so, what conversation do you need to have to fill in the gaps?
  1. Have a conversation with your boss about making it safe to give them a yes or a no. Use the outline above to guide your conversation.
